Differences in Creating datasource/Dataset

When creating a datasource/dataset in the report designer, the connection builder is very friendly - I can supply server, pick a database, user name & password (just like dashboards)

When creating a new datasource or dataset from the home page it requires me to supply a connection string, which is more complex for less technical users, and not consistent with the designer method.

It would be better it both methods were the same - that of the designer.
