Unable to create a datasource on new install

When I set up the sub site, I aliased this as "reportingservice" not "reportservice":

Recreating this site with the correct alias fixed my problem. Thank you very much for your help.

As a related question - is there any way to have the initial install create sub applications under an existing site, rather than creating a new site with a different port? If we could do this directly from the installer that would greatly simplify our install process.
