What’s New

Report Server

Single PostgreSQL Database for All Tenants

Provided the option to use a single PostgreSQL database for all tenants in Bold Reports Server, simplifying multi-tenant deployments that previously required a separate database per tenant.

Custom Embed Token Attributes API

Added a new API to create embed tokens with custom attributes and parameters, giving embedders a way to securely manage user sessions in any embedded applications.

Report Designer

Embed Token API

Provided an embedToken API to access the reporting service with custom data instead of serviceAuthorizationToken, giving embedders a more flexible way to scope access to report resources without relying on the broader service authorization token.

Language Property for TextRuns

Added a language property for text runs within the text box report item, so individual runs of text can be tagged with their own language, such as mixing English and Arabic text in the same paragraph, for correct rendering, alignment, and formatting instead of applying a single language to the entire text box.

Chart Filter Support

Provided filter support for the chart report item, letting a chart show a filtered subset of its underlying dataset without needing a separate filtered dataset just for that chart, simplifying how multiple charts on the same page can each highlight a different slice of the same data.

Report Viewer

TOC in PDF Export, Frozen Row/Column Groups, and Dual-Axis Charts

Provided support to export the Document Map as a Table of Contents in PDF documents, enhanced functionality to freeze table row groups and column group headers separately for better readability while scrolling, added support to hide rows based on cumulative expressions, included the #text cell format for preview and Excel exports, and added support for rendering dual axes in chart items.

Custom Sort Icon Color, Cross-Axis Tooltip, and Image Alignment

Introduced the UserSortIconColor custom property to dynamically change the sort icon color in headers, provided the EnableCrossAxisTooltip custom property to display the Y-axis chart tooltip when hovering over the X-axis, and introduced the ImageAlignment custom property to position images to the right inside a rectangle.

Bold Data Hub

New Warehouse Destinations and Azure App Service Support

Provided destination support for Firebolt, Teradata, IBM DB2, and SAP HANA Cloud, broadening the set of warehouses a pipeline can write to, and added Azure App Service support for Data Hub so it can be deployed directly on that platform.

IDP and Deployment

Shared PostgreSQL Database and More Linux Distributions

Added shared database support for PostgreSQL, allowing all sites to use the same database instead of a dedicated one per site.

Added deployment support for additional Linux distributions, including Debian, Rocky, Kali, and OpenSUSE, widening the set of environments Bold Reports can be installed on.

Improvements

Report Designer

Sharper V2 Designer Icons

Improved the v2 report designer icons with clearer sharpness for both light and dark modes, so the toolbar and panel icons stay crisp regardless of theme instead of appearing slightly blurred at certain screen densities.

Cross-Framework Report Serialization

Enhanced report serialization to ensure seamless compatibility and handling across both .NET and .NET Core frameworks, so a report saved in one runtime opens correctly in the other without a manual conversion step.

Report Viewer

Faster Row Rendering

Rendering performance improved by determining the maximum cell height per row and applying it consistently across all cells in that row, avoiding redundant height recalculation for every individual cell.

Accurate Vertical Text Alignment

Vertical text alignment now positions accurately based on text size, so text sits correctly within a cell instead of appearing slightly offset for certain font sizes.

Resizable Parameter Dropdown

The parameter dropdown popup is now resizable in Report Viewer V2, letting users expand it to see more values at once instead of scrolling through a fixed-height list.

Virtual Scrolling for Parameters

Virtual scrolling is now supported for dropdown lists and multi-select parameters, improving performance and usability when a parameter has a very large list of possible values.

Custom Attributes from the Viewer Controller

Custom attribute values can now be assigned directly from the viewer controller, giving host applications a programmatic way to set them instead of relying only on the UI.

More Accurate PDF Border Rendering

Round border rendering in PDF exports is now more accurate, so rounded corners in exported PDFs match what’s shown in the designer and preview.

Reliable Map Interactions

Map report interactions now work reliably when Storage Setting and Virtual Evaluation Mode are enabled together, a combination that had previously caused inconsistent map behavior.

Clearer Viewer Error Messages

Error messages now include clearer descriptions, suggested fixes, and debugging detail, making it faster to diagnose a problem directly from the message instead of searching documentation.

Hideable Alert Icon and Cache Memory Fix

An API was added to hide the alert icon in the viewer UI, and a memory issue that occurred after clearing cache during file storage configuration was resolved.

Classic Toolbar Search and Mobile Fixes

Fixed the search feature not working and the viewer not rendering correctly on mobile devices, both specific to the Classic toolbar configuration.

Report Server

Data Hub (ETL) in Azure

Added Data Hub (ETL) support to Bold Report Server in the Azure environment, so ETL pipelines can now run alongside the report server when deployed on Azure.

Bold Data Hub

Google Ads Connector

Added Google Ads connector support in Data Hub, letting pipelines pull campaign and performance data from Google Ads directly into a report’s data model.

IDP

Full Database Removal on Site Deletion

Deleting a site now removes the entire database associated with the site, rather than only deleting the site’s schema within the database. This ensures that no orphaned data remains after the site is decommissioned.

Bug Fixes

Report Designer

  • Resolved an issue where duplicate series were populated in the chart data panel when the tag ID contained special characters.
  • Fixed an issue where the width property of custom bounds for the Chart report item was not serialized when saving the report.
  • Fixed an issue where report tags did not reset correctly in the publish dialog.
